(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) — Mark Bock of Mike Thomas Associates in Angola is the 2018 Indiana Association of REALTORS® (IAR) Distinguished Service Award honoree.

IAR leaders established this award in 1952 to recognize members who give many years of distinguished service to the association and their community. Leaders of Mark’s local association—the Northeastern Indiana Association of REALTORS®--nominated him; an IAR committee of his peers selected Mark. He is only the 16th member to receive the IAR Distinguished Service Award. IAR currently has more than 17,500 members.

“Mark is knowledgeable and always willing to lend a hand or share his expertise,” said Cheryl Stuckwish, IAR Recognition Committee Chairperson. “Mark cares deeply for people—particularly his clients, fellow REALTORS®, and community members. He’s committed to excellence in everything he does. We in the real estate industry are fortunate to have his guidance and creativity.”

Mark is past president and director of both his local REALTOR® association and IAR. He’s served as a member or chairperson of several committees at both associations including those on education, economic development, finance, and governance. Additionally, Mark was part of the IAR CEO search team and moderated the Indiana REALTORS® Leadership Academy. Mark is also past director of the National Association of REALTORS®.

Education is important to Mark. He holds several professional designations, including the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS), the Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI), and the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®). Mark teaches continuing education to real estate professionals at the local, national, and international levels.

Mark retired as an Indiana Real Estate Commission (IREC) member in 2017. In that role, he also served as the IREC’s liaison to the Office of the Indiana A ttorney General.

In his community, Mark is or has been involved with the Angola Area Chamber of Commerce, Ducks Unlimited, Kiwanis, and wetland preservation.

Mark is married to Dia, has three children and two grandchildren.
