As the second largest city in Indiana, Fort Wayne is an amenity packed Midwest gem with a small town feel. Downtown Fort Wayne is booming with development around every corner. 2018 will see the transformation of many unused parts of this fine city into vibrant regional attractions.

RIVERFRONT INITIATIVE
This year, Fort Wayne will see development on the $20 million riverfront project along the St. Mary’s River. The goals of this development are to promote and support a variety of activities that use and encourage people to live, invest, and socialize on and along the rivers of Fort Wayne. The project also seeks to provide, protect and improve public access along and to the rivers and to create a regional destination to draw people and businesses to the Greater Fort Wayne area.

THE LANDING
The Landing was Fort Wayne’s original business district: home of the first post office, theatre, and hotel. Over the years, the vitality of The Landing has declined. The re-development of this district will be an investment in Fort Wayne’s urban core and will include unique, mostly local retail and restaurants, a coffee shop and brewpub. It will also be home to 70 apartments and new office space that will be filled with Fort Wayne talent. Once the busiest street in Fort Wayne, this project hopes to repeat history and bring energy back to a once bustling business district.

ELECTRIC WORKS - GENERAL ELECTRIC CAMPUS REDEVELOPMENT
If you are a Fort Wayne native, you will be thrilled to know that all of Fort Wayne’s General Electric’s 18 historic buildings will be completely renovated and revitalized to include more than 1.2 million square feet of office, retail, residential, hotel, and entertainment space. Re-named “Electric Works,” this project is a core component of the downtown economic development plan. Construction is slated to begin July 2018.
