Our homes & neighborhoods form the architecture of the larger community in NE Indiana. Each community is shaped by the decisions, actions, and attitudes of each of us. Like an ecosystem, our community thrives when members are giving and doing their part. We can all make a difference by remembering and caring for our neighbors and working to benefit the people of NE Indiana at large. We in Indiana have a reputation of being friendly, caring, supportive and kind. Let’s further that reputation this holiday season by finding opportunities to serve our co-workers, neighbors, family and friends.

Small things can make a big impact especially when it comes to giving back to our community. The adage is true, “many hands make light work.”

Simple ways to engage and support your community:

  • Ask a neighbor how you can help them
  • Take a meal to a friend in need
  • Help an elderly neighbor with fall clean up
  • Consider serving on a board for a non-profit
  • Volunteer at a school to help in the classroom or tutoring
  • Give an encouraging word
  • Help your local church or charity
  • Encourage a small business owner
  • Volunteer at a community hospital

Each one of us carry a unique skill set that we can use to help others, and as we do, compassion and a sense of appreciation will awaken inside of us. In the words of Mother Teresa, “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.”
