To Warm Up the Winter

A warm drink helps you settle in on cold nights. This recipe uses pantry staples and takes about 10 minutes. Makes four servings.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 cups milk or milk alternative
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons sugar or sugar substitute
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • Marshmallows or whipped cream, optional

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Warm the milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Do not boil it.
  2. Whisk in the cocoa powder and sugar or sugar substitute until smooth.
  3. Add the vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Let it heat for another two to three minutes.
  5. Serve with marshmallows or whipped cream.

This delicious recipe gives you a rich flavor with a hint of spice. It works well after dinner or as a quick pick-me-up on a cold afternoon.
